%X The present paper deals with the account of the faq¨©h  ¨¡l¨±t¡¯s vicissitudes, which originated in Ibn al-Q¨± iyya¡¯s work and was reproduced by several Andalusi and Eastern authors. From the historiographical analysis of that account we can conclude that the fact that some of these authors concur on reproducing a large version is due to their derivation from a common subarchetype, which was responsible for the rhetorical amplification of Ibn al-Q¨± iyya¡¯s original text. Therefore, the existence of a large version of Ibn al-Q¨± iyya¡¯s chronicle must be ruled out. An¨¢lisis historiogr¨¢fico del relato de las vicisitudes del alfaqu¨ª  ¨¡l¨±t, elaborado por Ibn al-Q¨± iyya y reproducido por numerosas fuentes andalus¨ªes y orientales. De dicho an¨¢lisis se desprende que la supuesta versi¨®n amplia de la cr¨®nica de Ibn al-Q¨± iyya nunca existi¨® y que la coincidencia entre varias obras en presentar una versi¨®n extensa del relato es debida a su com¨²n dependencia de un subarquetipo que amplific¨® ret¨®ricamente el texto original de Ibn al- Q¨± iyya.
