%0 Journal Article %T A STUDY ON HEALTH AWARENESS AMONG THE SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN PURULIA DISTRICT %A SHYAMAL KUMAR BISWAS %J Indian Streams Research Journal %D 2013 %I Laxmi Book Publication %X The aim of the study is to find out the level of awareness of secondary school students about health. The study was conducted in the year 2008 at Purulia district in West Bengal. Two hundred forty nine (249) students (both boys and girls) were randomly selected from ten secondary schools of urban and rural area. The tool used to find out the health awareness is ˇ°Health Awareness Measure Scaleˇ± (HAMS). Data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistical technique. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.01 and 0.05 levels of significance. The mean value of student's health awareness (76.07) indicates that the secondary school students are having high awareness about health and boys are more aware about health than girls. Result also showed that there is no significant difference between boys and girls students in respect of their health awareness. %K Health Awareness %K Secondary school Students. %U http://www.isrj.net/UploadedData/1810.pdf
