%X El art¨ªculo se propone volver a preguntar cu¨¢l fue la historia del af¨¢n de distinci¨®n de la esfera del arte que hab¨ªa emergido en el modernismo finisecular y que busc¨® afianzarse en la vanguardia literaria argentina de los '20.  Qu¨¦ elementos contribuyeron a deslindar un campo espec¨ªfico para las letras y a confirmar la existencia de un espacio imaginado como aut¨®nomo?  Qu¨¦ interlocutores colaboraron con el relato emergente sobre obras de arte aisladas en un mundo propio, ¨²nicamente fieles a criterios de forma?  C¨®mo se trazaron las fronteras de lo art¨ªstico literario? A las respuestas disponibles propongo agregar un elemento olvidado: la figura del madrile o Jos¨¦ Ortega y Gasset, cuyos escritos y conferencias tuvieron extraordinaria recepci¨®n en la Argentina. Es bien conocido su influjo en la d¨¦cada del 10 sobre los j¨®venes luego nucleados en la revista Valoraciones y su relaci¨®n con Victoria Ocampo en los 30, pero casi no hay referencias al papel de este gestor cultural en el per¨ªodo intermedio. This article cross-examines an aspect that characterizes the Argentine literary avant-garde of 1920's: the attempt of making a great divide between Art and other practices, an eff ort that had previously emerged in Modernism by the turn of the century. In this paper, I will inquire about the elements which contributed to strengthen that division and, in that way, confirmed the existence of a literary space imagined as autonomous. Th us, I will examine the nature of the contributions to a discourse about Art, which in this context is understood as a self-ruling realm wholly devoted to formal interests. Also, attention will be given to the delimitation of literary boundaries. Consideration of the production of the contemporary Spanish intellectual, Jos¨¦ Ortega y Gasset, will be crucial as his writings and lectures were very well-known at that time in Argentina. It is well known Ortega y Gasset's strong influence over young Argentine intellectuals in 1910's as well as his close friendship with Victoria Ocampo in the 1930's, but little is known about his role and influence on the Argentine intellectual scenario in the 1920's.
