%X ive volume  ahname-i Al-i Osman written by Arifi is an important work of the Kanuni Sultan S¨¹leyman period. The fifth volume entitled S¨¹leymanname and the paintings inside this work are visual documents that effectively relay the period of Kanuni. In this work, the caftan depictions in S¨¹leymanname paintings are studied. The caftans in S¨¹leymanname have been examined by drawing analogies with those that have survived until today paying regard to the Ottoman political andsocio-cultural life.
