%X The article presents Cornelius Castoriadis¡¯ alternative approach to the substantial way of society¡¯s existence and alteration. Contrary to the evolutionary concept of alteration, Castoriadis projects a ¡®theory of social indeterminism¡¯ and affronts the problem of historical being through the appearance of novel psychic/imaginary types, which have the ability to cause unexpected alterations during the course of the historical and social phenomena. Nevertheless, possible problems of his ¡®history conception¡¯ are also stressed.
