Empathic concern is the ability to sympathize with others and be motivated to help. Perspective taking is the capacity for differentiation of views. Interpersonal forgiveness is the ability to relieve anger and resentment and to offer compassion for another person who offended unjustly. The proposed model was that the empathic concern correlates positively with perspective taking and both positively influence forgiveness. 200 young adults, men and women, ages between 14 and 46 years participated in the study. Davis' scales of empathic concern and perspective taking from the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) and the Forgiveness Item from the Enright Forgiveness Inventory (EFI) were used. The model was suitable to the data and the relationships were significant (p <0.05). It is expected that these results help the work of education and therapeutic counseling for interpersonal forgiveness. %U http://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=28420658014
