Good linear relationship was observed in between the release rate and the concentration of hydrophilic carriers, relationship was predicted by the Korsemeyer equation (Q=ktn), was considered appropriate to describe accurately the quantity of drug release. The values of n were in between 0.605 to 0.93, indicating that release was controlled by both diffusion and erosion. Among all the carriers tested, polyvinyl alcohol showed better sustaining capacity at 1:1 drug: carrier ratio. This technique is more suitable to prepare the better controlled release formulations of diclofenac sodium.
