We started with the analysis of one of the essential conditions for the intensification of this type of housing: the soil ownership, by a restricted number of proprietors, a very common situation in the study area, despite the fact of historical irregularities with the Certificates of Title. We follow verifying how the monopoly and the appropriation of the urban land grants many advantages and possibilities towards the agents of space (Estate Syndicators), whom use the local physical attributes (the river Tarum and the vegetation) as an additional attractive of these closed land divisions, thus obtaining huge profits, what ends up affecting the quality of the public space, therefore damaging the environment. %K private land divisions %K soil ownership %K Manaus %K Tarum district %U http://revista.ufrr.br/index.php/actageo/article/view/551/565
