Those analyses are based on direct observation in the field, collecting data from official banks as the national health system of Brazil ¨C Datasus and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics ¨C IBGE. Among the major changes in the city studied, we highlight the growing urban population and the high mortality rate attributed to external causes, which include homicides and road deaths. The projects serve to demonstrate the State participation in the production of urban space in Amazonas, and how the policy for the urban-regional development actually happens. The indicators and demographic dynamics presented make it evident how these great projects not only change regional production structure, but the process of urbanization and the living conditions of people. %K Amazon %K urban spatial structure %K cities %K great projects %U http://revista.ufrr.br/index.php/actageo/article/view/552/567
