O diagn¨®stico ¨¦ realizado clinicamente e durante o tratamento pode haver necessidade de interven  es anest¨¦sicas que podem comprometer ainda mais o quadro cl¨ªnico do animal. Os felinos acometidos frequentemente apresentam-se hipercal¨ºmicos e desidratados, o que predisp e ¨¤ ocorr¨ºncia de arritmias card¨ªacas e comprometimento hemodinamico, levando a uma preocupa  o quanto ¨¤ utiliza  o de protocolos anest¨¦sicos queutilizem f¨¢rmacos depressores da fun  o cardiovascular. Deste modo, o objetivo desta revis o de literatura ¨¦ elucidar os cuidados na avalia  o cl¨ªnica e anest¨¦sica, bem como os f¨¢rmacos utilizados na anestesia de felinos com obstru  o uretral, enfatizando os principais cuidados quantos aos efeitos metab¨®licos e sist¨ºmicosenvolvidos na patogenia.Urethral obstruction is one of the most common diseases in the emergency care of cats. Thediagnosis is made clinically and during treatment may be need for anesthetic interventions that may furthercompromise the clinical condition of the animal. The affected cats often presents hyperkalemia anddehydratation, which predisposes to cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic compromise, leading to a concernabout the use of anesthetic protocols with drugs that may depress cardiovascular function. Thus, the purpose ofthis review is to elucidate the clinical evaluation and care in anesthesia and the drugs used in anesthesia of catswith urethral obstruction, emphasizing the main care about systemic and metabolic effects involved in thepathogenesis.
