%X Statistical consulting is a growing field but its relevance has not been fully appreciated, especially in many Nigerian Universities and Higher Institutions. This paper posits that acquisition of statistical consulting/collaboration skills among higher education students is highly instrumental to educational and research development in Nigeria. We survey the awareness, practice and teaching of statistical consulting in one of Nigeria¡¯s foremost universities. We also offer some suggestions for improvement and conclude by proposing a way forward for Universities in Sub-Saharan Africa to adopt.
