%T Accessibility of Information Technologies in the Resting Home

%X In Turkey, resting homes are opened increasing number day by day, by years in accordance with therequirement of increasing old age population. Information and communication technology are so importantfor these old people for communicating to other people, learning, and hobbies, ¡­ etc. In this study,accessibility conditions of elderly people to information and communication technologies in these restinghomes. For this reason, answered the questions: For the individuals who live in the resting homes inTurkey: a) Is there a computer lab that they can access?, b) How many computers are there that they canaccess?, c) Do they have internet access?. When it is checked whether there are computer rooms in restinghomes, it is seen that there is a computer room in 28 (13.93 %) homes out of 201 resting homes. When thenumber of computer per resting home is checked (201/137), it is found out that this number does not referto even 2 computers. As a result, it can be said that there are very few computers in resting homes, whichelderly people can access. 28 resting homes, which have a computer room, have also internet access.However, there is internet access in all resting homes because of official proceedings. Only 110 restinghomes allow elderly people living there use the internet (54.73 %).
