%X It is described how the mode by which matter is ˇ°conductedˇ± through luminiferous aether causes the matter to contract. A simple derivation of the mathematical expression for this physical length contraction is presented. There is also a brief discussion of relevant historical aspects and of nonphysical length contraction.
