%X The citizen competence training was implemented in 2003 and has since served to promote peaceful coexistence, public participation and the appreciation of diversity. Based on the assumption that there is a relation between the concepts of civilization and citizenship, this article seeks to fathom out the implications this pedagogical approach would have in a sociocultural context marked by the aftermaths of the violent internal conflict and drug trafficking.
