%X In today¡¯s economic climate, organizations are underpressure to speed up time-to-market and reduce costs. At the sametime, constraints on processing power and the limitations onexisting computing infrastructure often make it difficult for IT toimplement effective systems. It becomes increasingly important tofind ways to make the most of the resources you already have. Gridcomputing allows you to link together the processors, storageand/or memory of distributed computers to make more efficientuse of all available computer resources to solve large problemsmore quickly. The benefits of this approach include cost savings,improved business agility by decreasing time to deliver results, andenhanced collaboration and sharing of resources. Grid computinghas allowed for the virtualization of both hardware and softwareresources, whereby it is possible to dynamically share, select, anduse geographically distributed resources based on users¡¯ needs.Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) support the development ofsoftware applications as loosely coupled discrete web servicescapable of running on multiple software and hardware platforms
