%X This paper deals with S o Gon alo dance in the ¡°faxinais¡± of Marumbi dos Elias and Taquari, Rio Azul, Parana, Brazil. It involves storytelling of these subjects that have long remained on the margins of historiography. The ¡°faxinal system¡± is a typical land use in Southern Brazilian state of Parana. We use Oral History as a method to understand what is the meaning and function of S o Gon alo dance in the culture of ¡°faxinal¡±.
