Seedevi %J Asian Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences %D 2013 %I %X Objective: The present study were evaluate the Pharmacological potential from marine macro algae of Gracilaria debilis (phaeophyta) collected from Earvadi coast Southeast coast of India. Methods: The algal powder extracted from methanol and fractionated from DEAE- cellulose column chromatography. The methanolic extract (ME) and their active fractions were collected namely (F1, F2 and F3).Results: Among the methanolic extract and fractions showed the strong hemolytic activity of 129.55, 73.73, 43.47 and 37.73 HT/mg on chicken blood whereas, in human blood shows 129.55, 73.73, 43.47 and 37.73 HT/mg respectively. The mice acute toxicity of the methanolic extract and fractions confirmed the toxicity at LD50 124 mg/kg and 96.5 mg/kg of body weight. The methanolic and their fractions produced the moderate analgesic activity ratio of 0.70, 0.87, 0.64, and 0.46 at LD50 62.5 mg/kg body weight. Conclusion: These results suggest that the methanolic extract and fractions of G. debilis is future drug in the pharmaceutical industry. %K Marine algae %K Haemolytic activity %K Acute toxicity %K Analgesic activity %U http://www.jbiopharm.com/index.php/ajbps/article/view/190
