%T Work and Health: study about health-disease process from university hospital workers

%X Official records show that the number of public servants that retire on health grounds is greater than those in the private sector. We tried to establish a correlation between workloads and stress, and the reasons for absence for treatment among workers of a University hospital. In order to draw a profile of the hospital personnel and establish the contributing factors for absence from work, we used qualitative and quantitative analyses plus a documentary research. Our data show that the main factor leading to the absence from work on health grounds is related more to the general organization and distribution of jobs and responsibilities than the nature of the work. It points to the need to new studies about the different types of work contracts and the process of concession of medical licenses in the public service.
