Mohale %J Asian Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences %D 2013 %I %X Study was undertaken to investigate the effect of altered behavioralcondition like depression on various oxidative stress markers and biochemicalparameters in rats. Rats were subjected for short (21 days) and long term (84days) social isolation; the rats displayed an increase in depression on forceswim test relative to control. Various markers of oxidative stress like lipid peroxidation (LPO), reduced glutathione (GSH), Supers oxide dismutase (SOD),catalase (CAT) and biochemical parameters like SGOT and SGPT, weredetermined. There was significant increase in the level of LPO and decrease inthe levels of GSH, SOD and CAT after long term isolation. Biochemicalparameters were significantly altered after social isolation. Results indicatethat increase in oxidative stress in depression which may leads to alterationof biochemical parameters. %K Depression %K Oxidative stress %K LPO %K SGOT %K SGPT. %U http://www.jbiopharm.com/index.php/ajbps/article/view/150
