Navakhun %J Science Journal Ubon Ratchathani University %D 2010 %I %X Brominated flame retardants, tetrabromobisphenol A and decabromodiphenyl ether, were determinedby high performance liquid chromatographic with photodiode array detection. The VYDAC reversedphase C-18 column with particle size of 5 ¦Ìm (250 ¡Á 3.9 mm) was used in this study. A mixture ofmethanol and phosphate buffer pH 7 (60:40) and flow rate of 1.0 mL/min was the optimumchromatographic condition. Analytes could be completely separated within 10 minutes. In addition, brominated flame retardants in polystyrene were extracted by ultrasonic supported solvent extractionmethod. Factors that affect the extraction efficiency such as, type of solvents, time, temperature andvolume of solvent were studied. Under optimum extraction condition, linearity of 0.1-1.0% (w/w)with R2 value of 0.9963 was obtained. Limit of detection of 0.01% (w/w) and limit of quantification of0.02% (w/w) were found with the %RSD of 1.116 (n=6) at 0.7% (w/w). Finally, this method wasapplied for determination of brominated flame retardants in electronic products. %K Brominated flame retardants %K HPLC %K Tetrabromobisphenol A %K Decabromodiphenyl ether. %U http://scjubu.sci.ubu.ac.th/document/Eng/1_1_2010/10.pdf
