%X L¡¯objet de cet article d¡¯Aur¨¦lien Gros est de questionner la possibilit¨¦ d¡¯une ¨¦tude empirique de la production des savoirs historiques. Avec quels outils peut-on rendre compte du processus de recherche historique dont le texte d¡¯histoire constitue un aboutissement ¨¦crit ? Deux auteurs sont ici mis ¨¤ contribution. D¡¯une part John Dewey qui, proposant une th¨¦orie de l¡¯enqu¨ºte, d¨¦finit celle-ci comme processus actif et en isole les s¨¦quences depuis le probl¨¨me initial jusqu¡¯¨¤ sa r¨¦solution ; d¡¯autre part Max Weber qui, par sa m¨¦thode de l¡¯id¨¦altype, d¨¦crit empiriquement le fonctionnement des sciences historiques. Les instruments propos¨¦s par ces deux auteurs permettent de saisir la pens¨¦e historique non pas comme un contenu, mais comme un processus dynamique, une pratique de pens¨¦e s¡¯inscrivant dans des situations particuli¨¨res et dans l¡¯interaction permanente entre l¡¯historien et son pr¨¦sent. The object of the article of Aurelien Gros is to question the possibility of an empirical study of the production of the historical knowledge. Which tools can be used to report the process of historical research whose historical text constituted a written result ? Two authors are put here in contribution. On one hand John Dewey who, proposing a theory of inquiry, defines this one as active process and isolates sequences from it since the initial problem until its resolution ; on the other hand Max Weber who, by his method of the ideal type, describes empirically the functioning of the historical sciences. Instruments proposed by these two authors allow to seize the historical thought not as a contents, but as a dynamic process, a practice of thought joining particular situations and permanent interaction between the historian and its present.
