%X Los taxones biol¨®gicos son ejemplos de un tipo peculiar de individuos a los que llamar¨¦ linajes: individuos cuyas partes son sus variantes o sus ejemplares. Cosas como los organismos, mientras tanto, son ejemplos de ese otro tipo de individuos a los que llamar¨¦ sistemas: individuos cuyas partes, adem¨¢s de no poder ser consideradas sus variantes o sus ejemplares, deben guardar entre ellas ciertas interrelaciones causales sincr¨®nicas que no tienen porqu¨¦ existir entre las partes de un linaje. En ese contexto, la distinci¨®n entre el viviente individual considerado como sistema org¨¢nico y el viviente individual considerado como ejemplar de un linaje ser¨¢ objeto de un an¨¢lisis particular que tambi¨¦n nos llevar¨¢ a examinar la distinci¨®n parte-car¨¢cter. Biological taxa are instances of a peculiar kind of individual that I will call lineages: individuals whose parts are their variants or tokens. Things as organisms, in contrast, are instances of this another kind of individual that I will call systems: individuals whose parts must maintain some synchronous causal interrelations among themselves that do not have to exist among the parts of a lineage, and cannot be considered as their variants or tokens. In this context, the distinction between a living individual considered as an organic system and as a token of a lineage will be object of a particular analysis, which will also lead us to examine the distinction part-character.
