The main problems of development and confirmation of the Master Plans ofLeningrad by 1935, 1939 and 1941 are considered.Results. The significance of the master plan of Leningrad by 1935 and its versions by 1939 and1941 for the city development of Leningrad and their role in the history of the Russian urban planningare considered. The main problems of development and confirmation of these planning documentsare described in historical and political context of the second half of the 1930s.Conclusions. By the example of creation and implementation of the master plans of Leningrad inthe 1930s the necessity to work out long-term forecasts of city development as well as of comprehensivereview of environmental, geographical, and economic factors is shown.
