Orodispersible tablets have number of advantages over conventional dosage forms, because of that Orodispersible tablets have emerged as an alternative to conventional dosage forms. Orodispersible tablets dissolve or disintegrates instantly on the patient tongue or buccal mucosa. It is suited for tablets undergoing high first pass metabolism and is used for improving bioavailability with reducing dosing frequency to minimize side effect and make it more cost effective. This study was aimed, which can disintegrate or dissolve rapidly once placed in the oral cavity. Propranolol hydrochloride is a Antihypertensive drug, which undergoes extensive hepatic degradation (96%), which have poor Oral bioavailability (26%) for overcoming this problem Orodispersible tablets of Propranolol hydrochloride can be formulated which avoids extensive first pass metabolism and improvement in dissolution efficacy, disintegration time which results in improvement in bioavailability. The advantage of this formulation is such that in case of hypertension attack patient can take the drug without the usage of water. Therefore the main objective of the present work is to develop orodispersible tablets of Propranolol hydrochloride to improve bioavailability, disintegration time, dissolution efficacy and patient compliance. %K superdisintegrants %K orodispersible tablets %K disintegration time %K direct compression. %U http://www.ijprd.com/Article_No_260_Feb_11_06.html
