%X Se busca analizar las v赤as de desarrollo implementadas en la agricultura moderna venezolana y el rol de la orientaci車n del cambio tecnol車gico y las pol赤ticas estructurales. Una tipolog赤a de fincas y un conjunto de indicadores ayudan a caracterizar la distribuci車n de producci車n y recursos entre los tipos de fincas, utilizando informaci車n censal. Se concluye que entre 1950 y finales de los noventa tiende a consolidarse una v赤a de desarrollo  farmer , estimulada por el sesgo del cambio tecnol車gico y la orientaci車n de las pol赤ticas de colonizaci車n y reforma agraria. Una nueva agenda pol赤tica privilegi車 la seguridad alimentaria y la creaci車n de derechos de propiedad a favor de los empresarios agr赤colas. Las acciones desarrolladas bajo la 迆ltima Ley de Tierras pueden debilitar la v赤a  farmer , con consecuencias negativas para la producci車n y el empleo. This paper aims to analyze the agricultural development paths implemented in the modern Venezuelan agriculture and the role of the technological change orientation and structural policies. Based on census data, a typology of farms and a set of indicators were elaborated to characterize the distribution of land and production according to farm size. From the 50s to the 90s, the tendency was towards a development path centered on medium-sized farmers, stimulated by the technological change bias and structural policies like agrarian reform and colonization. A new political agenda favored food security and property rights in behalf of medium-sized farmers. At present the actions implemented under the last land law can weaken the farmer path, bringing about a reduction of production capacity and employment.
