In the present study assessing the effect of low intensity pulsed ultrasound stimulation (LIPUS) on bone mineral density (BMD) of the bone formed in distraction osteogenesis (DO) with dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) and making a comparison between postoperative 30th and 60th days was aimed. Materials and Methods: A total of 8 New Zealand rabbits were used in the study While DO was applied to 4 rabbits, 4 were applied 30mW/cm2 (1Mhz) LIPUS on DO site for 20 min a day during distraction period in addition to DO application Results: In LIPUS group, mean BMD values were seen to be above the initial values on 30th day while on 60th day the increase ratio was greater when compared. BMD values were seen to be below initial values both on 30 and 60 days postoperatively in control group. Conclusion: By the effect of LIPUS, majority of bone maturation is completed within the first 30 days and gained bone may resist to functional forces. Bu al mada D¨¹ ¨¹k Yo unlukta Ultrason Stim¨¹lasyonu¡¯nun (DYUS) DO¡¯ inde olu an kemi in mineral yo unlu u ¨¹zerine etkinli inin, cerrahi ncesi ve cerrahi sonras otuzuncu ve altm nc g¨¹nlerde Dual Enerji X I n Absorbsiyormetrisi (DEXA) y ntemi ile fotodensitometrik olarak de erlendirilmesi ama lanm t r. Gere ve Y ntem: al mada 8 Yeni Zelanda tav an dahil edilmi tir. Tav anlar n mandibulalar na DO uygulamas yap lm t r. 4 tav ana DO uygulamas na ek olarak distraksiyon periyodunda DYUS uygulamas yap l rken 4 tav ana sadece DO uygulamas yap larak kontrol grubunu olu turmalar sa lanm t r. Bulgular: DYUS uygulamas yap lan grupta kemik mineral yo unlu unun otuzunca g¨¹nde ba lang seviyesinin ¨¹zerinde bir de ere ula t g zlenmi tir. Ayn grupta altm nc g¨¹nde kemik mineral yo unlu u de erleri bir miktar daha artm t r. Kontrol grubunda otuzuncu g¨¹nde kemik mineral yo unlu u azal rken altm nc g¨¹nde ba lang seviyesine yak n de erlere ula lm t r. Sonu : DYUS¡¯ un etkisiyle DO¡¯inde kemik olgunla mas n n b¨¹y¨¹k bir b l¨¹m¨¹n¨¹n ilk 30 g¨¹nde tamamland ve kazan lan kemi in fonksiyonel kuvvetlere diren g sterebilece i d¨¹ ¨¹n¨¹lebilir.
