This paper briefly describestraditional re-engineering then discusses the emerging process of hybrid-reengineering which is often usedas means to simplify the cumbersome tasks. The paper represents how maintenance is going to be effectwith the help of given software engineering approaches. An analysis of various possible risks, their impactand mapping with various attributes is correspondingly depicted. This paper is also presenting the way toreduce the impact of most of these risks by using hybrid re-engineering. %K Hybrid re-engineering %K commercial off the Shelf (COTS) %K Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) %K Reengineering %K Model Driven Engineering (MDE) %K Defect Removal Efficiency (DRE) and Maintenance %K Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) %K Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) %K Engineering (Engg.). %U http://airccse.org/journal/ijsea/papers/3112ijsea03.pdf
