Bridges %J Journal of Library Innovation %D 2012 %I Western New York Library Resources Council %X Many high school teachers are prohibited from interacting with students in social media sites despite the fact that the majority of teenagers actively use them. The first opportunity most students have to interact with instructors in an online environment is in higher education. University and college librarians can take the lead in providing social media literacy instruction by developing courses and workshops using the Information Literacy Competency Standards developed by ACRL.
