%0 Journal Article %T IMPROVED RATIO TYPE ESTIMATOR USING JACKKNIFE METHOD OF ESTIMATION %A Jharna Banerjie %A Neeraj Tiwari %J Journal of Reliability and Statistical Studies %D 2011 %I Ankur Printing Palace %X In this paper, we propose to use an improved sampling strategy based on themodified ratio estimator using the population coefficient of variation and the coefficientof kurtosis of the auxiliary variable by Upadhyay and Singh (1999) for estimating thepopulation mean (total) of the study variable in a finite population. Also the proposedsampling strategy is shown to be better in the sense of unbiased and smaller meansquare error. A generalized Jack-Knife estimator is proposed and it is shown that theproposed Jack-Knife estimator is unbiased to the first order of approximation.
