%X Cet article introductif utilise le cadre th¨¦orique et m¨¦thodologique du sociologue britannique Paul Gilroy afin d¡¯expliciter et d¡¯¨¦largir le concept de   diaspora  . Ce concept est appr¨¦hend¨¦ sous son angle constructiviste et existentialiste, d¨¦bouchant ainsi sur la notion de   diaspora prot¨¦iforme  . Plusieurs communaut¨¦s diasporiques sont prises en exemples pour montrer les diverses applications de la nouvelle conceptualisation propos¨¦e par Gilroy. This introductory article uses the theoretical and methodological framework of British sociologist Paul Gilroy in order to spell out and broaden the concept of ¡°diaspora¡±. The concept is apprehended from a constructivist and existentialist angle leading to the notion of ¡°proteiform diaspora¡±. Several communities are used as examples in order to show the various applications of Gilroy¡¯s new conceptualization.
