%0 Journal Article %T An Assessment of Livelihood Attainment through Local Handicraft in District Swat, Pakistan %A Liaqat Ali %A Mussawar Shah %A Asad Ullah %A Intikhab Alam %J Journal of Society and Communication %D 2013 %I %X The present study was conducted on ¡°Assessment of livelihood Attainment through Local Handicraft¡± with Special Reference to village Islampur selected on purposively basis. The study found while using binary response regression model the result showed that a unit improvement in spending handicraft income on education brought 2.78 time (almost 3 times) improvement in livelihood attainment. Significant relationship between improvements in education with attainment of livelihood at a variation 3 level only. The study findings depicts that lesser number of significance along with non-significance of the model, applied at bi-variat level is either due to small sample size, or the variables, chosen for the study were least effective in the prevalent socio-economic conditions of the study area. It is recommended in light of the findings of the study that stress needs to the focused on improving the literacy in study area. Moreover, scholars of the future need to focus on choosing some other suitable variables effective in the prevalent socio-economic situation of the study area. %U http://journalofsocietyandcommunication.com/index.php?journal=jsc&page=article&op=view&path%5B%5D=66
