%X This work aims to focus on ¡®New Queer Cinema¡¯, a movement which emerged as part of the independent filmmaking in the USA of the 1990s, as well as represented by the films of few British directors. This work, which offers a brief history on the representation of homosexuality in Western cinema, also dwells on queer theory and queer film studies. After dealing with the directors of the ¡®New Queer Cinema¡¯ and their films, the work focuses on the aftermath of the movement.
