%X The Grande River is an important river from the upper Paran¨¢ River basin. One of the main rivers of the stretch of the Paran¨¢ is the Louren o Velho River by presenting the oldest SHC (Small Hidreletric Central) of Minas Gerais state. The Louren o Velho River basin was inventoried seeking to reveal the diversity of fish fauna and to identify the main species in the region. Fish were collected in two regions of the Louren o Velho River. These fishes are distributed in 10 species. Among these species, the most abundant was the pirapitinga Brycon nattereri, which is widely known to be an endangered species very sensitive to environmental changes. Probably this species has an abundance of this study due to the isolation of large carnivores caused by the geographical barrier of PCH Luis Dias. O rio Grande ¨¦ um importante rio para o alto rio Paran¨¢, um dos principais rios do trecho do alto rio Paran¨¢ ¨¦ o rio Louren o Velho que tem destaque por apresentar a PCH mais antiga de Minas Gerais. A bacia do rio Louren o Velho foi inventariada buscando revelar a diversidade da ictiofauna e levantar as principais esp¨¦cies da regi o. Foram coletados peixes em duas regi es do rio Louren o Velho. Estes peixes est o distribu¨ªdos em 10 esp¨¦cies. Dentre estas esp¨¦cies, a mais abundante foi a pirapitinga Brycon nattereri, que ¨¦ amplamente conhecida por ser uma esp¨¦cie amea ada bastante sens¨ªvel a altera  es ambientais. Provavelmente esta esp¨¦cie apresenta a abundancia do presente estudo devido ao isolamento dos grandes carn¨ªvoros provocados pela barreira geogr¨¢fica da PCH Luis Dias.
