Infection occurs most readily in children, causing itching, redness, and irritation in the eyes and eyelids, and infected ocular discharge. Repeated infections in childhood lead to the formation of scar tissue which culminates in the inversion of the eyelids and eyelashes in adulthood, and ultimately, blindness. %K Trachoma %K Health Planning %K Costs %U http://www.cehjournal.org/0953-6833/25/jceh_25_79.80_080.htm
