These results are contrasted with published information, all on Leptodirini, which lists 10 species asdiploid numbers of 22 + Xy or XX. It is shown that the higher chromosome number (n = 11 + X or y) previously reported refers exclusively to the more derived Leptodirini (¡°infraflagellates¡±) whereas the lower number (n = 10 + X or y) refers to the less derived surface-dwelling forms and the less derived Leptodirini (¡°supraflagellates¡±). %K Chromosomes %K Leiodidae %K Leptodirini %K Leiodes Latreille %K 1796 %K Catops Paykull %K 1798 %K Cantabrogeus Salgado %K 2000 %K Espanoliella Georgiev %K 1976 %K Fresnedaella Salgado %K Labrada & Luque %K 2011 %K Notidocharis Jeannel %K 1956 %K Quaestus Schaufuss %K 1861 %K Cantabria %K trip %U http://www.pensoft.net/journals/compcytogen/article/2575/
