%X The arrival of the Suevi, Vandals, Alans and Visigoths at the Iberian Peninsula as well as their relationship to the Roman Empire and the local populations have been described, although with distinct purposes, by two Hispanic bishops: Hydatius of Chaves and Isidore of Seville. The first one, a contemporary of those events, paid special attention to the Suevi. The second one, Isidore of Seville wrote two centuries later. He focused on a period much longer than that covered by Hydatius, highlighting in his narrative the deeds of the Visigoths. Despite that, he also gave some attention to the Suevi. In this paper, our aim is to verify the treatment that was given by both authors to the Suevi, underlying those aspects related to activities of looting and the relationship to the Roman power, the Visigoths and the Hispanic populations of the peninsula.
