%X O presente estudo tem por objetivo utilizar-se de alguns ¨ªndices de car¨¢ter s¨®cio-econ micos (¨ªndice de Desenvolvimento Humano Municipal, ¨ªndice FIRJAN de Desenvolvimento Municipal, ¨ªndice de Car¨ºncia Habitacional, Produto Interno Bruto, PIB per capita, ¨ªndice de Exclus o Social) na avalia  o e defini  o de uma Regi o Metropolitana. Com a utiliza  o de t¨¦cnicas de cartografia tem¨¢tica e as interpreta  es geogr¨¢ficas inerentes ¨¤ mesma foi poss¨ªvel criticar a configura  o real proposta para a Regi o Metropolitana de Londrina e sugerir crit¨¦rios mais objetivos para a defini  o da mesma. Cette ¨¦tude vise ¨¤ int¨¦grer l¡¯utilisation de certains indices de d¨¦veloppement socio-¨¦conomique (indice de d¨¦veloppement humain, indice d¨¦veloppement municipal FIRJAN, indice de carences en mati¨¨re de logement, produit int¨¦rieur brut (PIB), PIB par habitant, indice d¡¯exclusion sociale) dans l¡¯¨¦valuation et la d¨¦finition d¡¯une r¨¦gion m¨¦tropolitaine. Avec l¡¯utilisation de techniques de cartographie th¨¦matique et par l¡¯interpr¨¦tation g¨¦ographique des cartes ainsi produites, il devient possible de critiquer la configuration actuelle de la r¨¦gion m¨¦tropolitaine de Londrina et de sugg¨¦rer des crit¨¨res plus objectifs pour la d¨¦finir. This study aims to make use of some socio-economic indices (Human Development Index, FIRJAN Municipal Development, Housing Need Index, Gross Domestic Product, GDP per capita, Social Exclusion Index) in the evaluation and definition of a metropolitan area. With the use of techniques for thematic mapping and geographical interpretation it was possible to criticize the actual configuration proposed for the metropolitan area of Londrina and suggest more objective criteria for defining it.
