%X El art¨ªculo presenta de modo resumido el resultado de la investigaci¨®n hist¨®rica y filol¨®gica de la fuente (La Estatua del Soberano) del escritor bizantino Nic¨¦foro Blemida. El discurso, inserto en la tradici¨®n ret¨®rico-pol¨ªtica bizantina de los "Espejos de Pr¨ªncipe" y dirigido al emperador Teodoro II L¨¢scaris, constituye una admonici¨®n ¨¦tico-pol¨ªtica al soberano y da cuenta, al mismo tiempo, de la erudici¨®n de su compositor y de la vigencia de los estudios cl¨¢sicos en el mundo bizantino del siglo XIII, particularmente afectado por la devastaci¨®n de la Cuarta Cruzada. El art¨ªculo sit¨²a hist¨®ricamente al autor y su discurso, ofrece un resumen de la obra en lengua castellana y presenta un completo repertorio bibliogr¨¢fico. This article presents a brief summary of the historie and philological research of the fount (The Sovereign's Statue) of the Byzantine writer Nicephorus Blemides. The discourse belongs to the Byzantine rhetorico-political tradition of the "Mirrors of Princes" and is directed to the Emperor Theodorus II L¨¢scaris. It constitutes and ethico-political admonition to the sovereign and, at the same time, it tells of its author's erudition and of the vogue of classical studies in the Byzantine world of the 13th century, which was particularly a¨ªfected by the devastation of the fourth crusade. The article places historically both the author and his discourse, offers a summary of the work in Spanish language and its presents a complete bibliographical repertory.
