F.K. Labensky, conservateur de la Galerie de l¡¯Ermitage de 1797 ¨¤ 1850, met en place un atelier de restauration avec un personnel permanent, travaillant sur la collection de la peinture imp¨¦riale. Assistant de Labensky, restaurateur A.F. Mitrokhine, apprend toutes les techniques connues de restauration m¨¦canique - doublage, parquetage et m¨ºme transposition des peintures, - et les d¨¦veloppe. Une ¨¦cole sp¨¦ciale est cr¨¦¨¦e pr¨¨s de l¡¯atelier de l'Ermitage ¨¤ 1819, supervis¨¦ par Mitrokhine, ou les jeunes dipl m¨¦s de l'Acad¨¦mie imp¨¦riale de l'Art se familiarise ¨¤ la fois avec la restauration m¨¦canique et picturale des peintures. Les apprentis de l'¨¦cole de Mitrokhine transmettent ensuite ses techniques ¨¤ la prochaine g¨¦n¨¦ration de restaurateurs de l¡¯Ermitage. The beginning of the 19th century was a period of formation of restoration school in Russia. F.K.Labensky, Curator of the Hermitage Picture Gallery from 1797 onwards till 1850, arranged a restoration studio with a permanent staff working on Imperial painting collection. Labensky¡¯s assistant, a restorer A.F. Mitrokhin learned all known techniques of mechanical restoration ¨C relining, cradling and even transfer of paintings, - and developed them on his own. A special school was established by the Hermitage studio in 1819, supervised by Mitrokhin, were young graduates of Imperial Academy of Art were taught both mechanical and painting restoration.
