%X This paper intends to present the historical and archaeological background of the Pra a do Infante,located in the parish of S. Nicolau, Porto, based on elements provided by the construction of an undergroundcar park.This square is part of the urban area of Porto¡¯s historical zone, in which the coordination of the works ofgeophysical prospecting with archaeological ones was considered relevant. Thus, the former determined thelocation of the archaeological surveys, which, once completed, revealed a settlement sequence going fromthe 17th century to the 20th century, despite material remains dating back to Roman times.Today, this square is a mere flicker of the commercial and human bustle which the material memories cannotglorify.
