In this paper a non-contact method based on the three-dimensional laser scanning technology, together with the CAD surface reconstruction, is presented. Evaluation of the Poisson¡¯s ratio is based on the volumetric changes of a cylindrical compression specimen. It is also shown that the three-dimensional scanning approach can be used for evaluation of engineering stresses when exact cross sectional area of the specimen cannot be precisely determined by standard contact measuring equipment. %K 3D laser scanning %K Poisson¡¯s ratio %K engineering stress %U http://bulletin-am.cz/index.php/vam/article/view/117
