Au cours des premiers si¨¨cles de l¡¯¨¨re chr¨¦tienne toutefois, une nouvelle technique d¡¯irrigation a ¨¦t¨¦ adopt¨¦e dans les r¨¦gions montagneuses. Des barrages ont ¨¦t¨¦ construits afin de retenir et de stocker l¡¯eau des wadis. Le pr¨¦sent article entend faire un bilan de nos connaissances les concernant et les mettre en rapport avec l¡¯apparition du royaume himyarite. From the Bronze Age to the present day, inhabitants of South Arabia have given priority to the diversion of floodwater to irrigate their fields. During the first centuries of the Christian era, however, a new irrigation technique was adopted in the western mountains. Dams were built to retain and store water from wadis.
