Materiais e M¨¦todos: Foram avaliadas 44 mulheres com queixa de incontin¨ºncia urin¨¢ria, m¨¦dia de idade de 64,34 (36-78). As pacientes foram distribu¨ªdas em dois grupos, Grupo 1 ¨C (Obesas): n=19, composto de pacientes com ¨ªndice de Massa Corporal (IMC) maior que 30; e Grupo 2 (N o-Obesas): n=25, pacientes com IMC menor que 30 e submetidas ¨¤ Avalia o Funcional do Assoalho P¨¦lvico (AFA) por meio da palpa o bidigital e do perine metro. Resultados: Foi poss¨ªvel observar, na avalia o da musculatura do assoalho p¨¦lvico, diferen as significativas nas pacientes obesas (p=0,0001), constatando-se menor valor de resposta muscular nesse grupo. Correla es negativas entre o IMC x AFA (r=-0,29; p=0,05) e entre o IMC x Diagn¨®stico (r=-0,10; p=0,51) tamb¨¦m foram demonstradas. Conclus o: A AFA apresentou menor valor no grupo de pacientes obesas e a medida que aumenta o IMC, aumenta a frequ¨ºncia miccional noturna. Objective: To evaluate the strength and endurance of pelvic floor muscles in obese and nonobese patients and to correlate it with the signs of urine involuntary loss. Materials and Methods: We have evaluated a total of 44 women complaining of urinary incontinence, mean age of 64.34 (36-78). The patients were divided into two groups, Group 1 - (Obese): n=19, composed of patients with Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 30; and Group 2 (nonobese): n=25, patients with BMI less than 30 and submitted to the Pelvic Floor Functional Assessment (AFA) through palpation and bidigital perineometer evaluation. Results: It was possible to observe, in the evaluation of pelvic floor muscles, significant differences in obese patients (p=0.0001), confirming a lower level of muscle response in this group. Negative correlations between BMI x AFA (r=-0.29, p=0.05) and between BMI x Diagnostic (r=-0.10, p=0.51) were also demonstrated.
