%X Eosinophilic lung diseases represent a group of disorders in which lung infiltrates seen on a chest radiograph, may or may not be accompanied by peripheral blood eosinophilia. The causes are varied, and range from drug ingestion, parasite or fungal infection, or else, may be idiopathic. The clinical manifestation of these disorders may be mild or severe, depending on the underlying condition. A full history and examination, along with radiological imaging, bronchoscopy, and serological tests are useful in reaching a diagnosis. Treatment with corticosteroids usually results in a good clinical outcome, if the diagnosis is suspected and made early. Early treatment with high dose corticosteroids may be life saving in some patients, whilst other patients require prolonged and sometimes recurrent courses of corticosteroids, due to the chronic relapsing nature of their condition.
