%X Diabetes mellitus has become
a global epidemic of </span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">21st</span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> century with </span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">dispro- portionately</span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> high socioeconomic </span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">burden</span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> in the developing world. Foot
ulcerations secondary to peripheral neuropathy and peripheral vascular disease
have led to devastating health outcomes including amputations. A descriptive
survey targeting a sample size of 301 was drawn from the selected health
facility. </span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">Majority</span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> of the respondents
were female and aged between 40 and 70 years old. The duration that a patient
had lived with diabetes, history of smoking and respondents age was
significantly associated with foot ulcers at </span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">P-value</span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> &lt; 0.05. Walking </span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">bare foot</span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> in and out
of the house, breaking into new shoes, </span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">poor</span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> inspection of feet were associated with </span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">the development</span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> of foot ulcers while dressing of blisters with sterile dressings was associated
with </span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">the prevention</span><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\"> of foot ulcers.
