%X The legitimately guaranteed national unity in the 1870s, after the Russian- Turkish war of 1877¨C1878, the Bulgarian Exarchate was in crisis. According to international treaties of San Stefano and Berlin of 1878 the Exarchate¡¯s diocese was separated into several parts. Since the Exarchate was the result of a national movement, it was religious in form and had a political manner. So it became a national matter to save its unity as a part of the national one
