%0 Journal Article %T Brussels Newspeak or Populist Rhetoric in Politics and in Media Coverage of Political Events %J 21st Century Media and Communications %D 2017 %X Media speech reflects most vividly the problems in the functioning of language and ongoing processes in speech practice. That is why in its mirror we often examine the speech of politicians which is in direct relation to the main trends in speech practice - intellectualization and democratization of speech. To designate two styles of political discourse, the paper introduces two terminological phrases ¨C £¿Brussels newspeak¡¯ and £¿populist rhetoric¡¯.
