The objective of this study was to characterise a sweet potato ( Ipomoea batatas [L.] Lam.) collection from the Centre National de Recherche Agronomique (CNRA) in C£¿te d¡¯Ivoire, based on morphological characters, and to elucidate the relationships among them. The experiment was carried out in a Fisher design with two replications. The descriptive analyses revealed a substantial phenotypic variation within the collection. The multiple correspondence analysis showed that 15 characters out of 27 were the most discriminant to explain the variation. Furthermore, significant relationships were observed between phenotypic traits related to leaves, stems and storage roots. The hierarchical classification placed accessions into three genetic groups regardless of their geographical origin and revealed the existence of duplicate accessions. The results obtained could be used for the selection, improvement and sustainable management of sweet potato genetic resources. La collecte et la caract¨¦risation de mat¨¦riel v¨¦g¨¦tal est une ¨¦tape cruciale dans les programmes d¡¯am¨¦lioration des cultures. L¡¯objectif de cette ¨¦tude ¨¦tait de caract¨¦riser la collection de patate douce ( Ipomoea batatas [L.] Lam.) du Centre National de Recherche Agronomique (CNRA) en C£¿te d¡¯Ivoire, ¨¤ partir de 27 caract¨¨res morphologiques et d¡¯¨¦lucider les relations entre eux. Les exp¨¦rimentations ont ¨¦t¨¦ r¨¦alis¨¦es selon un dispositif de Fisher en deux r¨¦p¨¦titions. Les analyses descriptives ont r¨¦v¨¦l¨¦ une variation ph¨¦notypique importante au sein de la collection. L¡¯analyse des correspondances multiples a montr¨¦ que 15 caract¨¨res sur 27 ont ¨¦t¨¦ les plus discriminants pour expliquer la variation. De plus, des relations significatives ont ¨¦t¨¦ mises en ¨¦vidence entre les caract¨¨res ph¨¦notypiques li¨¦s aux feuilles, aux tiges et aux racines tub¨¦reuses. La classification hi¨¦rarchique a class¨¦ les accessions en trois groupes g¨¦n¨¦tiques ind¨¦pendamment de leur origine g¨¦ographique et a r¨¦v¨¦l¨¦ l¡¯existence d¡¯accessions en doublons.
