The associated study used a long©\term dataset of seedling plots and showed that drier years and more disturbed areas of the forest promote liana seedling proliferation. Our results have important implications for conservation in future climatic scenarios, where more frequent and severe droughts, together with increases in disturbance, could have a significant effect on seedling tropical communities by favoring lianas at the expense of trees.
