%X Capillary leak syndrome (CLS) is a rare and potentially life-threatening condition1
that may result in profound hypotension, generalized or segmental edema, hemoconcentration
(elevated hematocrit), and hypoalbuminemia in the absence of albuminuria, findings
that are virtually pathognomonic for the disease.2 CLS can be idiopathic3-5 or secondary
to autoimmune diseases, malignant hematological diseases, viral infections, snakebites,
and treatments such as chemotherapies and therapeutic growth factors.
